The rules:
-No road versions of race cars (No homologation specials)
-It has to have raced in a sanctioned series (No road cars built for street racing)
-You can add things like another seat if it’ll fit, but you can’t remove any parts
-You can remove the livery or paint it however you want
I’d go with a 90s JTCC Honda Accord painted in plain white. It would look like every other riced out Accord I see but it would be supercar quick, and that combination appeals to me.

can we pick rally stuff? (something from Dakar or WRC would be pretty fun...)

That or a trophy truck is an excellent choice

Yep, any racecar

I still love that paintjob, Jeff Koons did an amazing job with it

My dad will be liverying his 850 T5 like this, so that’ll be an interesting street car

Pretty sure it’s his only piece of art that I like.

That livery is awesome!
Either a Baja Toyota truck from the 90s, or a 3rd gen Camry
Does the Micra Cup count? It wasn’
t sold here, only Canada

GC8 WRX STi WRC. Having owned a 2.5RS, and planning to import a 2000 or 2001 when they’ re legal to turn into a rally car, having one used in the WRC would be a given.

honorable mention going to this legendary car

There was an article on Jalopnik a few years ago about a guy in Japan who daily drove a rally-spec GC8

None of them. It is a terrible idea. As a high school senior I actually did DD my SCCA Improved Touring racecar for a couple of months as I built it . Even my 17 year old self quickly realized how terrible it was an purchased a cheap second car with in a couple of months of the cage being installed.

Easy choice. Dakar rally “ Juke.”

If I had remembered Ironman Stewart’s Toyota T ruck when I was writing this it’d probably be my choice...

I think all the race cars I’d road are based on a road car, so I’d probably just have the road car. I fancy the R390 GT1 - at least the road cars of that are virtually non-existent.
Or 7b7B.
Fuck livery. I’d have to raise t he 787 a bit so it can be thrown around on a back road. But the screaming would be worth it.

A huge fan of the Z4 racing platform and V8 sound...

I saw an article on speedhunters (maybe) about someone street driving a racecar of this era, and it was borderline impossible. It overheated at any hint of traffic, because it assumes massive speed and airflow for cooling.

No homologation specials allowed! You have to deal with the misery of racing suspension and slick tires

Hopefully you live on a straight road

I think I’m gonna go with an early 2000's Dakar Pajero, one of the orange/red ones.
![]() 08/10/2020 at 17:42 |

Remove the decals and tune it to take corners in both directions.
![]() 08/10/2020 at 17:46 |

Bugatti Type 59 or Porches 935/77.
![]() 08/10/2020 at 17:47 |
|
Either a 67-69 Camaro from the Trans am series as they were not to radically altered from the stock versions.
or a 86/87 Monte Carlo Stock car
Mainly because I would love to actually build street legal track day cars out of these but look like the real race cars.

Yes, but likely similarly fun. I’m pretty sure that Type 59 is the more expensive option but ex-works 935s are likely now following fairly close behind. B ut I guess we have good funding for this project?
